He achieved his master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Pisa in 2012, with a thesis about the enantiomeric resolution of amino alcohols using enzymes. After that, he started his scientific career continuing his thesis project for five months.
In 2013, he won a scholarship for a project in collaboration with Versalis Spa to synthesise organometallic catalysts for industrial applications.
Afterwards, he obtained a PhD in Applied Engineering at the University of Antwerp in 2021 as part of a VLAIO project (Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship). The thesis was on optimising paper bleaching and recovery of biopolymers and fillers from waste streams.
Now, he is working at the Ionic Liquids group as a research fellow on a project about the preparation and purification of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents for electrochemical applications because these chemicals are valuable gating agents.
